How Much Extra is needed in the Bending Process?
On Standard Window sections and sections less than 120mm on plan we require 375mm each end (total 750mm) gripping allowances.
On larger profiles such as curtain walling sections (150mm +) we will advise at time of quotation the required gripping allowance.
-
Can Painted Sections be curved?
Yes. ABS have developed a bending process that allows Painted sections up to 7000mm long to be curved, without damaging the paint.
-
What is the minimum radius ABS ltd can bend aluminium sections too?
There is no definitive guide to this question. The minimum radius of any aluminium section is dependent on 3 variables.
(1) Size of the Section
(2) Axis in which the section is curved (Elevation or Plan)
(3) Temper / Grade of Aluminium
As a general rule, we have the know- how and technology to curve most thermally broken window sections to 300mm minimum radius.
Obviously for large and bespoke sections please contact ABS Ltd sales office for an accurate achievable minimum radius.

What is ABS Ltd’s capacity?
ABS has the current capacity to curve 400mm aluminium extrusion / section on plan and up to 700mm extrusion / section on elevation.
